James "Joe" Kelly

James "Joe" Kelly, co-president, is a Certified Property Manager, licensed Real Estate Broker, licensed California General Contractor and a third-generation California property owner since 1969.

Joe is a former board member of the Berkeley Board of Realtors and West Contra Costa Board of Realtors. Prior to his career in property management, Joe served in the United States Air Force before joining Sheppard Company, the predecessor to K & S.

Joe, with his wife Barbara, established residence in Berkeley, where they raised four daughters, Sheila, Megan, Erinn and Katlin. Carrying on the civic dedication which is an integral part of K & S, Joe served on the Board of the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, was Head Trader of the Berkeley-Albany Trade Club, and is also past-president of the Berkeley Jaycees. In addition, he and his wife spend many hours on school and charitable endeavors.

Alvin T. Satake

Alvin T. Satake, co-president, is a property manager, licensed real estate broker and a second-generation California property owner since 1970.

Al has more than 35 years of property management experience. He is a graduate of Armstrong University with a B.A. in Accounting. Prior to K & S he supported his way through college by working in the property management department of another company. Upon graduation he joined The Shepard Co., the predecessor to K & S Company, Inc.

Al is active in the community in various service origanizations. He is a former director of the Berkeley Lion's Club and former district governor of the Alameda county Jaycees.

Al lives in Orinda with his wife and raised two daughters.

Robert Sasaki

Robert Sasaki, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is a property manager, licensed real estate broker and a second generation California property owner since 1984.

Prior to his career in property management he was head of risk arbitrage and convertibles at JP Morgan in Tokyo and a managing director at Bear Stearns.  He was a co-founder of Freemerchant.com which was sold to Network Commerce Inc. and a venture capital investor in Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, a company that went public allowing him to endow the Robert J. Sasaki Fund for Vision Neuroscience at the University of California at Berkeley.

His success in business allowed him to acquire shopping centers and apartment complexes playing an active role in their management. Robert is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization, a former board member of the US-Japan Bridging Foundation based in Washington DC and a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association.  He is a graduate of Berkeley high school, the University of California at Berkeley and Harvard University.
